JOB TITLE: Enterprise Security Technology Lab Owner
SALARY: £145,000 - £180,000
LOCATION(S): This position is based in Edinburgh, Leeds or London, and will involve periodic travel between these three locations.
HOURS: Full-time
WORKING PATTERN: Our work style is hybrid, which involves spending at least two days per week currently, or 40% of our time, at our office location.
About this opportunity
As an Enterprise Security Technology (EST) Lab Owner you’ll have overall ownership for several security products each with their own respective backlog supported by circa 2-3 features, journeys or technology components.
You’ll support both Chief Security Office (CSO) and the wider Group through the delivery, support and maintenance of several enterprise-wide security solutions.
As a Lab Owner, your responsibilities include:
Providing direction and vision to product owners, making sure teams prioritise the right things to deliver value to customers and collaborators. The direction and vision will be based on a deep and wide knowledge on the direction and innovation within the cyber security industry. This knowledge should be applied practically to the to assist the Bank progress safely faster.
Ensuring all Product Owners, Engineering Leads and Senior Integrators understand the priorities and how they individually and as part of teams can add customer value through delivery.
Ensuring the team have sufficient skills, knowledge and capacity to deliver the services 24x7.
Being accountable for performance against both CSO platform and EST Lab level key results including but not limited to cost of ownership, contributions to key outcomes through backlog delivery, simplification, and customer satisfaction.
Being responsible for handling risks associated with the products but working with the senior engineers within the product teams and the LAB Engineering lead to ensure the vision and roadmap aligns with the strategy and policies set out by the platform as well as industry standard methodologies.
Setting the culture for the teams associated with the lab. This involves fostering collaborative and empowered teams that take ownership of outcomes, encouraging innovation, and minimizing risk through data-driven testing and learning. As Lab owner you will drive the culture of “safely go faster” for all the product teams.

EST is one of eight labs that exist within CSO, acting as an enabler across the whole enterprise, offering solutions to the Chief Information Office (CIO) and infrastructure teams.
EST products are a combination of SaaS based solutions, hardware and third-party software solutions hosted internally and some internally developed software solutions. Each product team within EST are responsible for the support maintenance, strategy, and development of their products.

What you’ll need
Product Delivery- Leading improvements on product development process and delivery using new methodology, techniques, tools, etc. Shaping the direction for cross-functional teams to deliver products in innovative delivery methods.(circa 25% weighting).
Customer Centricity - Promoting value of customer outcomes with team and peers and ensuring work efforts achieve these. Able to anticipate customer’s needs and use customer input and steer to present targeted, integrated, and outcome-focused solutions and opportunities.(circa 25% weighting).
Product Ownership-Taking ownership of a backlog supported by multiple teams. Delivering simple and sophisticated tech changes to a product and is responsible for its success/failure. Spearheads work across the relevant teams and ensures the right tools and processes implemented. Use experience to prioritise work and lead backlog efficiently and demonstrates a good level of domain knowledge. In this case the domain knowledge is Cyber Security.(circa 10% weighting).
Leadership & Culture - Applies experience in cultural change initiatives to support various agendas in the Bank (e.g., feedback culture). Understands the main barriers to changing culture and the criticality of leadership consensus.(circa 20% weighting).
