As a Senior Security Investigator – Cloud within the Insider Risk Program, you will play a critical role in expanding our capabilities within Microsoft's cloud-based environments, where many of our high-impact services and sensitive assets reside. You will serve as the primary point of contact for insider risk threats related to Azure and other Microsoft cloud infrastructures.
In this role, you will work closely with cross-functional teams to develop advanced detections, support incident response, and manage insider risk within cloud environments. By integrating internal data, cutting-edge threat intelligence, and deep expertise in Azure security controls, you will drive proactive strategies to protect Microsoft’s cloud assets from insider threats and enhance security posture across the organization.

Qualifications
Required/Minimum Qualifications:
- 5+ years of experience in software development lifecycle, large-scale computing, modeling, cyber security, anomaly detection, Security Operations Center (SOC) detection, threat analytics, security incident and event management (SIEM), information technology (IT), and operations incident response.
- OR Bachelor's Degree in Statistics, Mathematics, Computer Science or related field.
- 3+ years of experience in cloud security or insider threat analysis, with a strong focus on cloud environments like Azure.
Other Requirements:
Ability to meet Microsoft, customer and/or government security screening requirements are required for this role. These requirements include, but are not limited to the following specialized security screenings:
- Microsoft Cloud Background Check: This position will be required to pass the Microsoft Cloud background check upon hire/transfer and every two years thereafter.
- This position requires verification of citizenship due to citizenship-based legal restrictions. Specifically, this position supports United States federal, state, and/or localgovernment agency customers and is subject to certain citizenship-based restrictions where required or permitted by applicable law. To meet this legal requirement, and as a condition of employment, the successful candidate’s citizenship will be verified with a valid passport.
- Controlled Technology: This role will require access to information that is controlled for export under export control regulations, potentially under the U.S. International Traffic in Arms Regulations or Export Administration Regulations, the EU Dual Use Regulation, and/or other export control regulations. As a condition of employment, the successful candidate will be required to provide proof of citizenship, U.S. permanent residency, or other protected status (e.g., under 8 U.S.C. § 1324b(a)(3)) for assessment of eligibility to access the export-controlled information. To meet this legal requirement, and as a condition of employment, the successful candidate’s citizenship will be verified with a valid passport. Lawful permanent residents, refugees, and asylees may verify status using other documents, where applicable.
Additional or Preferred Qualifications:
- Proficiency in programing and query languages (e.g., Python, Powershell,SQL, KQL).
- Proficiency in Azure cloud environments, with a strong understanding of data flows, access management, and security controls within Azure and Torus.
- Strong analytical mindset with experience in threat detection, incident response, and root-cause analysis in cloud environments.
- Previous experience in insider risk or cybersecurity within a large, complex organization.
Security Operations Engineering IC4 - The typical base pay range for this role across the U.S. is USD $117,200 - $229,200 per year. There is a different range applicable to specific work locations, within the San Francisco Bay area and New York City metropolitan area, and the base pay range for this role in those locations is USD $153,600 - $250,200 per year.
