Cyber Security Associate – Salary Circa £35,000.
An exciting opportunity has arisen to join our Web Application Firewall team within the Perimeter Security team. This role is focused on security operations within Aviva’s Group CISO, working as part of a phenomenally dedicated team of security specialists based in Norwich that protect Aviva websites from attackers, preventing them from harming the company, taking our websites offline or stealing customer data.
A bit about the job:
As part of Security Operations, you will play a crucial role in protecting Aviva’s Perimeter. Your responsibilities will include driving and supporting the continuous improvement of our security measures, mitigating against malicious actors and other threats. You will communicate and implement security best practices and processes to ensure a proactive security posture, reducing exposure and attack surfaces. Additionally, you will triage alerts to identify risk vectors and vulnerabilities, assess their impact, and work on remediation or coordinate with relevant teams to resolve issues. You will also provide out-of-hours support for incidents and changes through a 24x7 on call function.

Aviva operates a “smart working” policy meaning that we spend a minimum of half of our time working in an office. This role is primarily based within Bristol as we are looking to expand our team there, however, applicants based in Norwich will also be considered.
Skills and experience we’re looking for:
Inquisitive mindset with ability to analyse data, deep dive and draw conclusions.
Able to assess the likelihood and impact of risks, evaluates severity and prioritise based on potential impact to services, customers and the business.
Ability to communicate with various stakeholders at all levels of the organisation.
Possesses foundational knowledge of IPs, HTTP protocols, request methods and OWASP top10, reflecting a genuine technical interest and curiosity in web traffic.
Self-motivated individual with a passion for continuous learning, able to follow defined processes while challenging the status quo, with a customer-first approach.

Salary of circa £35,000 (depending on location, skills, experience, and qualifications)
