Vice President, Cyber Capability Engineering & Strategy
General Dynamics Information Technology (GDIT) is seeking a dynamic and results-driven leader to shape cyber strategy with a focus on national cyber imperatives. Specifically, this strategic role will lead the development and delivery of capabilities across cyber threat detection and response, vulnerability and risk intelligence and analytics, zero trust strategies, and strategies for enhancing the capacity for cyber defense across government. This role requires an individual with deep expertise in cybersecurity operations, an intimate understanding of the Cybersecurity and Infrastructure Security Agency (CISA) and Defense and IC cyber roles and authorities.
As the VP of Cyber Capability Engineering & Strategy, you will oversee the strategy, development, and deployment of state-of-the-art approaches to safeguard government networks, critical infrastructure, and systems integral to national security. You will collaborate with senior executives, technical teams, and government stakeholders to design, implement, and manage advanced cybersecurity solutions.
The successful candidate for this role will be a recognized thought and action leader recognized throughout the national cyber landscape and will contribute to both internal and external communities as a Subject Matter Expert on the future of cyber defense.
The following are the key responsibilities for the role:
Leadership & Strategy
Lead the strategy and execution of high-profile cybersecurity initiatives for federal customers, emphasizing the development of innovative solutions that address emerging threats.
Develop, contribute to, and execute strategies aligned with GDIT’s vision to enhance national security through robust cyber practices.
Serve as a direct point of contact with CISA and other federal agencies for operational cyber strategies.
Lead GDIT initiatives to develop and cultivate a comprehensive talent pipeline for the full spectrum of cyber operations.
Contribute across all aspects of the leadership framework at GDIT.
Program Management
Oversee the deployment and management of Threat Hunting, Vulnerability Management, Zero Trust, and Continuous Monitoring solutions, ensuring compliance with government requirements and advancing the mission to protect federal networks.
Direct comprehensive threat-hunting operations and incident response strategies to mitigate risks and rapidly respond to cyber incidents.
Manage people, resources, budgets, and timelines to deliver programs on schedule and within scope.
Technical Expertise:
Drive the integration of cutting-edge technologies, including cloud, automation, AI/ML, and advanced analytics, into cybersecurity operations.
Leverage digital transformation methods and techniques to drive technical, process, and policy change.
Provide thought leadership on the evolving threat landscape, advising clients and stakeholders on best practices and proactive measures.
Ensure the continuous improvement of cybersecurity processes, tools, and capabilities.
Stakeholder Engagement
Cultivate and maintain strong relationships with government leaders, industry partners, and internal stakeholders.
Represent GDIT at industry events, forums, and conferences, showcasing the company’s commitment to advancing cybersecurity innovation.
Collaborate across GDIT teams to align pursuits with broader organizational goals and objectives.
Qualifications and Requirements:
Bachelor’s degree in Cybersecurity, Information Technology, Computer Science, or a related field (Master’s preferred).
15+ years of experience in cybersecurity operations, with at least 5 years in senior leadership roles.
Proven track record of managing large-scale cybersecurity programs for federal clients, particularly within CISA or related agencies.
Expertise in threat hunting, incident response, and CDM program execution.
In-depth understanding of cybersecurity frameworks, including NIST, Zero Trust Architectures, and Risk Management Framework (RMF).
Experience deploying advanced technologies like automation, AI/ML, and behavioral analytics in highly secure government environments.
Strong leadership and team-building skills, with experience managing multidisciplinary teams.
Exceptional communication and negotiation skills, with the ability to present complex concepts to executive and technical audiences.
Demonstrated success in managing customer relationships and navigating federal procurement processes.
